Lori Erickson grew up on a farm in northeast Iowa and earned a B.A. in English from Luther College and an M.A. in English from the University of Iowa. She’s the mother of two adult sons and lives in Iowa City with her husband, Bob Sessions, who is often her photographer on assignments.
In three decades of freelancing, her work has taken her to dozens of countries around the world. She’s a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and the Midwest Travel Journalists Association.
While she writes about a variety of subjects, much of her work focuses on the intersection of spirituality and travel. Her website Spiritual Travels is an archive of holy sites around the world. Her award-winning blog Holy Rover is hosted by Patheos, the world’s largest website on religion and spirituality.
In addition to writing, she leads workshops and gives presentations on topics relating to writing, travel and spirituality.
