Lori has a marker on the Literary Walk in her hometown of Iowa City, Iowa.

Lori Erickson received a B.A. in English from Luther College and an M.A. in English from the University of Iowa. She’s the mother of two adult sons and lives in Iowa City with her husband, Bob Sessions, who is often her photographer on assignments. (Follow Bob on Instagram at bob.sessions.)

Lori’s work has taken her to dozens of countries around the world. She’s a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and the Midwest Travel Journalists Association.

In addition to her books, she’s written more than a thousand articles for publications that include the Los Angeles Times, National Geographic Traveler, USA Today, Woman’s Day Magazine, and Travel + Leisure. She’s also the creator of Spiritual Travels, a website featuring holy sites around the world.

In 2011, Lori was honored with a bronze marker in her hometown of Iowa City, Iowa. The marker is part of the city’s Literary Walk, which features a variety of installations recognizing authors who have lived and worked in the community. The walk was installed after Iowa City was named by UNESCO as the world’s third City of Literature in 2008.
